Fabrication
We often find that custom parts are necessary for our success. With the resources that we have available, it is common for our team to create our own parts in house. Students working toward this specialization will be able to fabricate custom parts from drawings &raw materials to completed parts, including identifying materials and tools to use.
Skilled Level:
- SAFETY
- Help to complete a project where you do the following:
- Mark and cut materials to proper dimensions
- Debur holes and edges properly
- Drill holes
- Measure material thicknesses
- Identify hardware types
- Button head bolts
- Socket head bolts
- Hex head bolts
- Wood/Drywall screws
- Nylock vs standard nuts
- Rivets
Independent Level:
- Help to complete a project where you do the following:
- Use a technical drawing to layout hole locations
- Tap holes
- Assemble multiple fabricated parts into a larger assembly
- Be able to use technical drawings to fabricate parts independently
- Earn the CAD specialization at the Skilled level.
- Earn at least one of the following specializations at the Skilled level
- CNC
- Laser
Leader Level:
- Guide a group of students through a fabrication project.
- Help in all aspects of a fabrication project from design to completion.
