Hand Tools
Hand tools are an important aspect of mechanical work. Students working on this specialization should be able to identify and properly use any hand tools available in the robotics shop.
Skilled Level:
- Know proper names and locations of hand tools in the lab
- Know proper usage of hand tools in the lab
- Know proper storage of hand tools in the lab (ie. put the tool back where it belongs)
- Participate in hand tool safety training
- Identify hand tools to be used for each piece of hardware
Independent Level:
- Demonstrate safe and proper usage of all hand tools in the lab
- Wrenches
- Tape measure
- Allen Wrench
- Screw drivers
- Clamps/vice grips
- Hammer and Center punch
- Levels
- Squares
- Calipers/Micrometer
- Taps
Leader Level:
- Lead hand tool and safety training.
- Ability to demonstrate all SKILLED and INDEPENDENT level subjects to others.
- Take on a more leadership-oriented role in a project in this area. Discuss your experience with a Mentor. What are some of the things you did to help your team? What were some of the challenges you faced?
