Team Qualifications
Level 0:
This qualification is ONLY achievable by 8th grade students.
While in 8th grade:
- Meet attendance and membership requirements
- Attend competitions and do at least ONE of the following at each:
- Participate in Scouting
- Be a member of the pit crew
- Be a member of the drive team
- Discuss the following:
- What FIRST stands for
- Describe Gracious Professionalism and provide an example of a time you saw it in action
- Describe Coopertition
- Earn ONE build qualification at the Basic Level
- Share one project you worked on during the season and the contributions you made towards that project.
- Share your favorite moment from this season and why it stood out to you.
- Share one goal you have for next year.
Level 1:
- Met attendance and membership requirements
- Be able to list the following:
- Team 102 Patron and Champion sponsors
- Lead Mentors of Team 102 and their roles
- Current Student Leadership and their roles
- Meet with THREE Mentors on the team and ask them about their experience. Share what you learned with an Advisor. You might ask them:
- What kind of career are they in?
- What kinds of places have they worked?
- What made them want to do the line of work they are in?
- Why are they a Mentor for the team?
- Earn at least TWO Build Qualifications at the Basic Level
- Earn the following Team 102 Specializations:
- FIRST and Team 102 Values
- Scouting Specialization
- Pass the rules quiz for the current season game
- Attend competitions and do at least ONE of the following at each:
- Participate in Scouting
- Be a member of the pit team
- Be a member of the drive team
- Discuss the following:
- Share an Impact Event that stood out to you. Explain why it stood out.
- Discuss your favorite moment from this past season and why it stood out to you.
- Share one goal you have for next year and how you plan to achieve that goal.
- Submit your season Reflection
Level 2:
- While Level 1 Qualified:
- Meet attendance and membership requirements
- Pass the rules quiz for the current season
- Attend competitions and do at least ONE of the following:
- Participate in Scouting
- Be a member of the pit team
- Be a member of the drive team
- Discuss the following:
- Share an Impact Event that stood out to you. Explain why it stood out.
- Discuss your favorite moment from this past season and why it stood out to you.
- Share one goal you have for next year and how you plan to achieve that goal.
- Submit a Season Reflection
- Earn ALL build qualifications at the Basic Level
- Earn at least ONE build qualification at the Advanced Level
- Earn the following Team 102 Specializations:
- Team History
- FRC Competition & Advancement
- Research and discuss:
- The Dean's list award and the students from our team who have won it in the past.
- The Impact Award and its importance in FIRST. What are some projects that winning teams have completed?
- The Engineering Inspiration Award. What are some projects that winning teams have completed?
- Through research or discussion with mentors, find TWO internships that might interest you. If you were to apply, what might you need to do to prepare?
- Read the introduction of the Student Leadership Challenge Program. Share what you learned with an Advisor.
Level 3:
- While Level 2 Qualified:
- Meet attendance and membership requirements
- Pass the rules quiz for the current season
- Attend competitions and do at least ONE of the following:
- Participate in Scouting
- Be a member of the pit team
- Be a member of the drive team
- Discuss the following:
- Share an Impact Event that stood out to you. Explain why it stood out.
- Discuss your favorite moment from this past season and why it stood out to you.
- Share one goal you have for next year and how you plan to achieve that goal.
- Submit a Season Reflection
- Earn TWO build qualifications at the Advanced Level
- Earn the following Team 102 Specializations:
- Leadership
- Through research or discussion with mentors, find TWO scholarships that might interest you. If you were to apply, what might you need to do to prepare?
- Attend at least TWO of the following workshops (can be the same one multiple years):
- World Championships Conferences
- StuySplash
- Comcast Bootcamp
- Complete the Personal Values Activity. Share with an Advisor your findings. Give a short explanation of why you landed on those values.
- Read the Student Leadership Challenge Epilogue, “Continue your Leadership Development.” Share what you learned with an Advisor.
Level 4:
- While Level 3 Qualified:
- Meet attendance and membership requirements
- Pass the rules quiz for the current season
- Attend competitions and do at least ONE of the following:
- Participate in Scouting
- Be a member of the pit team
- Be a member of the drive team
- Discuss the following:
- Share an Impact Event that stood out to you. Explain why it stood out.
- Discuss your favorite moment from this past season and why it stood out to you.
- Share one goal you have for next year and how you plan to achieve that goal.
- Submit a Season Reflection
- Earn ONE build qualification at the Expert Level OR
- Earn ALL build qualifications at the Advanced Level
- Using what you learned from your robotics experience, write the section of your resume that would describe that experience.
- Write a short testimonial of your experience on robotics that could help the next generation be motivated to join the team.
