3D Printing
As the team creates more custom parts, 3D printing is very important for small working parts and prototypes. Members seeking this specialization will have in depth knowledge of how 3D printing differs from other manufacturing methods and will be able to use that knowledge to create parts.
Skilled Level:
- SAFETY
- Earn CAD Specialization at the Skilled level
- Be able to export the appropriate file type to the slicer software
- Be able to manipulate model in the printer software
- Be able to determine material needs and time to print
Independent Level:
- Earn CAD Specialization at the Independent level
- Be able to create models that can be printed, this could include
- Appropriate thicknesses of parts
- Factoring in stress relief
- Considerations for print orientation (which side goes on the print bed)
- Identify different print materials and know when these materials are appropriate for the model being made
- Be familiar with the workings of the printer itself (features, how materials interact with printers, etc.)
Leader Level:
