Mechanical Qualifications
Basic Level
- Earn the Hand Tool Specialization of the Independent Level
- Earn the Power Tool Specialization at the Independent Level
- Earn the Fabrication Specialization at the Skilled Level
- Be able to list at least 5 Robot Rules from this year's Game Manual that you think are important.
- Participate in Tool Safety Training.
- Assist in the completion of at least ONE project where you do ALL of the following:
- Use two different power tools
- Use two different hand tools
- Show understanding of tape measures and squares for measuring.
Advanced Level
- Earn the Fabrication Specialization at the Independent Level
- Earn the CAD Specialization at the Skilled Level
- Identify tools to be used for each piece of hardware.
- Demonstrate ability to solve basic technical design challenges. Share with a mentor an example of this that stood out to you and why.
- Demonstrate safe and proper usage of tools.
Expert Level
- Earn the Hand Tool Specialization at the Leader Level
- Earn the Power Tool Specialization at the Leader Level
- Earn the CAD Specialization at the Independent Level
- Earn the Fabrication Specialization at the Independent Level
- Earn ONE of the following Specializations at the Independent Level:
- Be able to lead a tool safety training
- Know vendors that are used for common parts
- Assist another student in earning the Basic Level mechanical qualification
- Assist another student in earning the Advanced Level mechanical qualification
- Be actively involved in the design process of a competition robot.
